What does it take?
12.08.2010 - 12.08.2010
22 °C
So... We've had our pre-holiday and our pre-pre-holiday and now fully relaxed and completely forgetting any work related skills we're heading off. We're vaccinated to the brim, minimalistically packed, cheaply but comprehensively (how else would you go?) insured, bright-eyed and bushy tailed and ready for a holiday of a lifetime.
Our loosely planned itinerary hours as follows:
Brazil - 2 weeks
Argentina and Paraguay- 6 weeks
Chile, Peru and Bolivia - 4 weeks
New zealand - 4 weeks
Australia - 2 months
Singapore, Malaysia and surrounding areas - 4 weeks
Japan - 3 weeks
China, Nepal and Tibet - 7 weeks
Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand - 2 months
Well it is finally here, after months of planing we are on the flight to our first destination, Rio. As we wait for our plane to take off (for 30 min, due to ehem... technical difficulties) we are feeling a great mix of emotions, very excited, anxious and terrified to the bone.
Apart from having to stop Chris from egging every santander bank on the way (after 3 months we are still waiting for a credit card from them and day before our trip they reset the pin on an incorrect card leaving us without a debit card) and a brief scare as we attempted to locate terminal 5 which seemed to be non-existent road sign wise, we said our final goodbyes and headed into the unknown.
When the captain finally announces we are ready to go we both can't help but look at each other and do a pretend scream. How will we cope with just each other for 1 year without London or family and friends?
